Consider the Lilies of the Field

Lapels, who needs ’em?

Consider the leopard and the trout:
pretty smart, don’t you think?
No lapels, no neckties,
nice smooth lines,
attractive finish.

The leopard has no metal features.
No trout sports
a visible designer label.
They keep it simple.

Emulate the animals, sartorially.
No flaps. Eschew
extraneous excrescences.
Zips – OK, Velcro too.
But buttons – your turn next.

And cock a snook at fashion,
remembering that
the habit oft proclaimeth
the foolish popinjay.
